《纳兰性德词新释辑评》

谁翻①乐府凄凉曲, 风也萧萧。雨也萧萧, 瘦尽灯花又一宵②。
不知何事萦怀抱, 醒也无聊。醉也无聊。梦也何曾到谢桥③。

【注释】①翻: 演唱或演奏之意。欧阳修《蝶恋花》:" 红粉佳人翻丽唱, 惊起鸳鸯, 两两飞相向。"②瘦尽句: 意思是说眼望着灯花一点一点地烧尽, 彻夜不眠。③谢桥: 谢娘桥。相传六朝时即有此桥名。谢娘, 未详何人, 或谓名*谢秋娘者。诗词中每以此桥代指冶游之地, 或指与情人欢会之地。晏几道《鹧鸪天》:" 梦魂惯得无拘检, 又踏杨花过谢桥。" 纳兰反用其意, 谓在梦中追求的欢乐也完全幻灭了。 【讲解】纳兰的词中有一部分爱情词很朦胧, 又无本事可寻, 所以很难确定其所指。这首词便是这样。从词里所描写的情景来看, 很像是对一位情人的深深怀念。通篇表达了一种无聊赖的意绪。上片侧重写景, 刻画了萧萧雨夜, 孤灯无眠, 耳昕着风声、雨声和着凄凉乐曲声的氛围与寂寞难耐的心情; 下片侧重写不眠之夜, 孤苦无聊的苦情。词情凄惋悱恻, 哀怨动人。陈廷焯《词则别调集》说此篇" 哀婉沉著"。梁启超认为此词有"时代哀音", "眼界大而感慨深"。 此说不无道理, 可资参考。 【辑评】一、黄天骥《纳兰性德和他的词》:" 这词表现一种莫名其妙的心情, 诗人在风雨中听到凄凉的曲调, 不知怎的, 变得坐立不安, 寂寞、凄凉、失望、空虚的情绪, 笼罩着他的心头。他患的是时代的忧郁症。"(1983年广东人民出版社)二、参见前《菩萨蛮》 (春风吹散湘帘雨)" 辑评一 " 。 三、参见后《采桑子》 (凉生露气湘弦润)" 辑评 "。

这一句要联系上下文。上文说到“飞琼字”，飞琼是仙女名字，“字”代指书信。那叠唱的两句“人在谁边”从字面上来看就是在问：既无书信可通，不知道仙女现在正在哪里呢？她为什么还不寄信给我呢？她到底心里在想着什么呢？——叠唱“人在谁边”，叹息反侧。然而后半句里又提到“今夜玉清眠不眠”，玉清是另一个仙女名，但总不可能是在一首诗里面思念两个女子吧？这就涉及到中国古代的仙女文化，即文人传统中的仙家意象了。仙女可以指代道观中的女子，也可以作为女性的泛指。写爱情诗，毕竟无法直呼所爱女子的名姓，所以总要有一些指代性的称谓，比如前文讲过的谢娘就是一例。更多的例子是用古代的美女名字或者传说中的仙女名字。早从宋玉的《神女赋》，以至曹植的《洛神赋》，神女（仙女）的传统便创建而绵延，而仙家又和道教关系密切，在唐代，皇室贵族女子出家而入道观，在原本就以开放著称的大唐盛世之下，道观便往往成为了才女们的文化沙龙，使得文人名士们趋之若鹜，衍生出一段段风流俊雅的爱情故事。所以，仙女的意象早已经渐渐地固化成了一种文化符号，许许多多复杂的意思尽被凝炼在这一个小小的符号之内，使诗词的语句越发简短，而所蕴涵的意义越发无穷。随着传统的不断积淀，诗词也越发显得像是一种符号体系，我们只有具有了悠游于与诗人们同样的符号体系之内的能力，才能够领略出诗词那凝练的语句中浅层与深层的多项歧义。这也正是诗词作品的魅力所在。
因此，这句诗也就是作者在思念某个女子，同时从简单的“人在谁边？”的问句之重复读者自然可以想象衍生处出一系列的疑问：她在哪里？为什么不联系我？为什么没有她的消息？她怎么样了？等等，更显得情真意切，情意悠长。

这里的人指的是前面提到的琼飞，一位仙女。容若以其为寄情意象
